The physics of SCUBA diving, por Patrícia Borges de Sousa, finalista de Doutoramento.
Resumo: SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) diving is a recreational activity that takes place in an unnatural, high pressure, underwater environment. There is seldom another time when you will feel quite as under pressure as when SCUBA diving! This talk is a compendium of physics-based curiosities about the effects of pressure experienced while scuba diving. Some other phenomena such as light absorption, heat transfer and sound propagation are explained in a playful fashion.
